Five patients with endodermal sinus tumor were treated with combination of cisplatin, etoposide, and bleomycin for induction, and doxorubicin, vinblastin for maintenance chemotherapy. After four courses of induction chemotherapy. All of them had
complete remission. But one of them who had relapsed after surgical resection and chemotherapy in other hospital relapsed again during maintenance chemotherapy, and he was excluded from this study due to multiple relapse inspite of changing to
aggressive chemotherapy with ifosfamide, cisplatin, and etoposide. Second look operation was rerformed for three of them. Which showed no viable tumor cells. During chemotherapy no specific complication was found. This result suggests that
cisplatin,
etoposide, bleomycin combination can be used as the first line chemotherapy for the non-resectable, metastatic endodermal sinus tumor, and at least six courses of induction chemotherapy followed by maintenance therapy are necessary to maintain
complete
remission.
